Francis Bacon (22 Jan 1561 - 9 April 1626) Francis Bacon, 1st Viscount St Albans, started out his career as a lawyer. However, he became better known in later years as a philosopher and a defender of the scientific revolution. His early divisions of duty to society and duty to God became very influential in the realm of philosophy.
